    Alert message sent 21/01/2021 16:14:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

    Dear subscriber,

A belated Happy New Year to you all.

This is the first of a series of regular updates on what’s been happening in your area and what the Huntingdon neighbourhood team are working on over the coming weeks.

You will also find some crime prevention advice and some good news stories.

We hope you find this update useful.

    Best Wishes,
    Sergeant Dominic Carminati
    Huntingdon Neighbourhood Team

    What’s going on
We continue to ensure Huntingdonshire is a hostile place for criminality and we’ve recently been focusing some of our efforts on targeting those who have been preying on the most vulnerable members of our community.

County Lines drug dealers often use violence and threats to force their way into an address and use this as a base to sell their products. This in turn causes anti-social behaviour and associated crime. We’ve held nights and days of action to reduce the harm to our community and catch those responsible.

With support from our partners including housing it has been agreed that we will review those most at risk of cuckooing to ensure the accommodation provided suits their needs and that support is in pace should they need it.

As the eyes and ears of our community, we welcome any information you may have in relation to drug activity or dealing. You can report it to us online.

    Projects in progress
We’re aware of issues including parking, speeding and anti-social behaviour across Brampton, Godmanchester and Yaxley. The team will be addressing these in the coming weeks and we’ll provide an update next time.

    COVID19
Unfortunately, we’ve had to attend numerous reports of Covid breaches, including gatherings, businesses operating that shouldn't and people who have tested positive but are not isolating.

There have also been incidents of people refusing to wear face masks in shops and being abusive towards staff.

Paying rule-breakers a visit could cause delay in us reaching people who really need our help. Thank you once again to all the wonderful people in our communities who are keeping to the rules and our appreciation to the army of other key workers out there doing an amazing job.

If you are suffering from domestic abuse, you can now access safe and discreet support at Boots and other local pharmacies as part of a new Government codeword scheme named Ask for Ani. Victims can ask for Ani at any Boots pharmacy and be offered a private space to seek support from police or domestic abuse services.

We know it must be really difficult for victims at this time and this scheme offers just another route of seeking support. Remember you are not alone and your voice can be heard. More here
