  • Weekly Policing Update - Warboys and Bury District

    Alert message sent 11/03/2021 15:37:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon, Warboys and Bury District Members –

Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 3rd to 10th March:

Church Road, Warboys – Police received calls reporting that traffic lights at road works on Church Road were not working, early on Friday morning, 5th March. When officers arrived they found that it appeared that batteries had been stolen from both sets of lights. Police contacted the water company and set out ‘Police Slow’ warning notices at the site. (Ref CC-05032021-0049)

Warboys – Police attended an address in Warboys where a number of people had gathered, apparently for a party, late on Friday evening, 5th March. Eight people were given very strong words of advice about breaching the Covid-19 regulations, and returned to their homes. (Ref CC-05032021-0534)

Wistow Toll – Thieves entered a construction site at Wistow Toll at some time overnight on Tuesday 9th / Wednesday 10th March and stole a large quantity of tools and equipment. It is thought that a large van would have been needed to hold all of the stolen items. At the moment no-one has reported noticing anything suspicious in the area at the time. (Ref 35/14051/21)

And Finally – A Warning About Catalytic Converter Thefts:

Police have issued a warning about catalytic converter thefts, following 40 incidents being reported across the County in the last month:

“In less time than it takes to make a cup of tea, they’ll go onto a driveway and strip the vehicle of the precious metal and be on their way to the next victim.

“Toyotas and Hondas have predominantly been targeted, but other vehicles including Lexus, Mercedes, Mazda and Volkswagen have also been singled out".
