    Good Afternoon, St Ives District Members –

     
    Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 7th to 12th November:

     
    Covid Regulations – Police have responded to reports of possible Covid Regulation breaches across Huntingdonshire in the last week. Incidents include large gatherings of people in confined spaces and suspected breaches of social distancing. (Refs CC-07112020-0213, CC-07112020-0271 and CC-12112020-0190)

     
    Warner’s Park – Sun 8th Nov, evening – A fire deliberately started in a pile of rubbish, dealt with by the Fire Brigade. (Ref CC-08112020-0460)

     
    Church Street – Overnight Mon 9th / Tues 10th Nov - Attempted break-in to a silver Ford Transit van left parked on Church Street. Sliding door damaged but no entry gained and nothing stolen. (Ref 35/76437/20)

     
    Needingworth Road – Wed 11th Nov, evening – Police seized and towed away a blue BMW when checks showed it had no valid insurance. (Ref CC-11112020-0471)

     
    Fairfields / Great Farthing Close – Police are aware of on-going problems with anti-social behaviour by a group of teenagers in the Fairfields and Great Farthing Close areas, most recently on Thursday, 12th November. Investigations are continuing. (Refs 35/77011/20 and 35/75360/20)

     
    Bus Station, Station Road – Thurs 12th Nov, 5:15pm – Police were called to an incident at the Bus Station involving two persons, one of whom was arrested for assaulting the other with a bottle causing injuries needing hospital treatment. (Ref 35/77125/20)

     
    Crown Street – Thurs 12th Nov, 5:30pm – Teenagers interfering with the social-distancing barriers along the street, draining them of water and moving them around. Police searched unsuccessfully for the group, but did replace the barriers. (Ref CC-12112020-0344)
     
     
    Police Appeal for Witnesses:
     
    Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A1123 at Houghton Hill, Wyton, at around 1:30pm on Wednesday 11th November, in which a blue Vauxhall Corsa collided with a cyclist.

    Anyone who saw the collision, or the car or cyclist in the moments leading up to it, is asked to contact the police using the 101 non-emergency number or the reporting tool on the police web-site, quoting Incident 207 of 11th November.
     
     
    Local News Item – Man Jailed for Possession of Class A Drugs:
     
    A man found in possession of cocaine and heroin when he was stopped in St Ives in October 2019 was sentenced to 30 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on 9th November.

    And Finally – Operation ‘Sceptre’
     
    Operation ‘Sceptre’ is part of a week-long initiative to tackle knife crime across the whole of the UK.

    On average, officers are arresting three people a week in Cambridgeshire for knife-related offences.

    During the crack-down, the force will be conducting knife-sweeps, talking to retailers about selling to young people, and educating school children through presentations about the dangers of carrying knives.
