    Alert message sent 22/09/2020 15:14:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon, Earith and Needingworth District Members –

Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 16th to 21st September:

Recreation Field, Bridge End, Earith – Police received a report that there had been a fire at a hut on the Recreation Field at Bridge End, Earith, on Thursday evening, 17th September. Two Fire Engines had attended and dealt with the blaze. CCTV footage may help in determining if the fire was started deliberately. (Ref 35/63505/20)

Townsend Road, Needingworth – There was a break-in and burglary at a house on Townsend Road, Needingworth, at some time between Saturday 12th and Saturday 19th September. Intruders climbed over a fence from an adjoining back garden, then broke in by smashing the glass in a set of patio doors. The upstairs rooms were mainly targeted, where an untidy search was carried out and from where items are thought to have been stolen. Police have made house-to-house enquiries at neighbouring houses and scenes-of-crime officers have also attended. Investigations are continuing. (Ref 35/63744/20)

Bluntisham Heath Road – Thieves broke the padlock from the main gates to enter the Recycling Centre on Bluntisham Heath Road at some time overnight on Sunday 20th / Monday 21st September, then stole approximately 45 old vehicle batteries awaiting disposal. Containers on the site were also opened and searched, but nothing more is thought to have been stolen. Police will be looking at CCTV footage as part of the investigation. (Ref 35/64136/20)

The Heath, Bluntisham – Fire, police and ambulance crews were called to an incident at The Heath, Bluntisham, on Sunday morning, 20th September, where a single car was discovered in the ditch. The driver was unhurt but was taken to hospital as a precaution, whilst recovery services towed the car away. (Ref CC-20092020-0099)
