For anyone feeling the heat right now, imagine being a poor pooch locked in a car on a day like today.
Despite the many warnings and obvious dangers, we’re sad to say we still received three calls over the weekend about dogs left in hot cars… and today is even hotter!
Thankfully, the dogs in these three vehicles were all unharmed and attending officers were able to locate the owners and give strong words of advice.
According to the RSPCA, if it’s 22 degrees outside, a car can reach 47 degrees in just one hour – even if the car is parked in the shade and the widows are left slightly open (it’s due to reach 33 degrees across our county today).
Heatstroke can be fatal for dogs just as it can be for humans. If you notice a distressed dog alone in a car on a hot day, call 999 immediately. |
