Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 30th August to 5th September:
The Hollow, Ramsey – Police received a report of a car being driven through a field of crops at The Hollow, Ramsey, on Friday evening, 30th August. The car was last seen heading off towards Ramsey. (Ref 35/62101/19)
Bodsey Toll Road – Police received a report of a suspicious car and torches seen in the dark at a farm site on Bodsey Toll Road, Ramsey, shortly after midnight early on Saturday morning, 31st August. A police patrol was dispatched and officers located a parked car and spoke to the occupants, but no offences were found to have been committed. (Ref CC-31082019-0026)
St Mary’s Road, Ramsey St Mary’s – Police and an ambulance were called to a collision between a car and a motorcycle on St Mary’s Road, Ramsey St Mary’s, on Sunday afternoon, 1st September. One person was reported to have been taken to hospital with minor injuries. (Ref CC-01092019-0265)
Herne Road, Ramsey St Mary’s – Police received two reports of damage to crops at a field off Herne Road, Ramsey St Mary’s, on Sunday, 1st September. The first call came in the afternoon when a quad-bike and two motor-bikes had been seen being ridden over a newly planted field. A second call was received later in the day when another sighting of a quad-bike and motor-bikes was reported. (Ref 35/62621/19 and CC-01092019-0287)
Holme Fen Nature Reserve – A visitor to the Holme Fen Nature Reserve reported noticing smoke rising from an island in one of the lakes on the reserve on Monday afternoon, 2nd September. When this was investigated it was found that a section of peat on the island was alight and the Fire Brigade were called to put it out. Evidence that people had been on the island recently was found, including the remains of a barbecue and a camp fire, and police suspect that this is how the blaze started. An area of peat of around 20 square metres was destroyed by the fire. (Ref 35/63408/19)
Benwick Road, Ramsey Forty Foot – A police patrol searched the area along Benwick Road, Ramsey Forty Foot, on Wednesday evening, 4th September, following a report of hare-coursers with a dog and an off-road vehicle seen on the fields. However, nothing untoward was found. (Ref CC-04092019-0405)
Oilmills Road, Ramsey Mereside – Police received a report of suspected hare-coursers gathered at a field off Oilmills Road, Ramsey Mereside, on Thursday evening, 5th September. Four vehicles and six or seven men with dogs had been seen. (Ref CC-05092019-0323)
