Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 13th to 19th August:
High Street, Hilton – A thief stole a bag from a van whilst it was parked on the driveway of a house on Hilton High Street on Tuesday afternoon, 13th August. The van belonged to a contractor working at the house, and the thief was seen opening the van’s door, taking the bag and then running off. (Ref 35/57832/19)
St Ives Road, Houghton – Police and a fire crew were called to a collision between two cars on St Ives Road, Houghton, on Wednesday afternoon, 14th August, which left one of the cars half-submerged in a water-filled ditch. One person was reported to have been slightly hurt in the incident, and both vehicles needed to be towed away by recovery services. A road-side electricity cabinet was also damaged. (Ref CC-14082019-0278)
Potton Road, Hilton – A ‘Swift Challenger’ caravan was stolen from the driveway of a house on Potton Road, Hilton, overnight on Wednesday 14th / Thursday 15th August. The caravan had been left immobilised with a wheel clamp but the thieves managed to remove this, leaving it discarded nearby. Investigations are continuing. (Ref 35/58171/19)
Huntingdon Road, Houghton – A group of youths walking past a house on Huntingdon Road, Houghton, late on Thursday evening, 15th August, threw a glass at the house wall where it shattered, leaving some damage to the paintwork. They were last seen heading towards Wyton. A police patrol was dispatched and officers searched the area for the offenders, but unfortunately no-one matching the descriptions could be found. And Finally … Police Appeal for Information
Police have issued an appeal for information following an incident that happened in Morrison’s supermarket on Parson’s Green, St Ives, at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday 14th August, in which a man exposed himself whilst standing next to a girl who was shopping with her parents at the time. The man retreated when the girl’s parents approached him.
