Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 31st May to 6th June:
Chapel Road, Ramsey Heights – Police received reports this week that a bird-hide at the Nature Reserve on Chapel Road, Ramsey Heights, had been damaged by vandals, possibly at some time in early April. Items in the hide were torn from the walls and the remains of a small fire were found in one corner. (Refs 35/39373/19 and 35/39388/19)
Ramsey Forty Foot – An eleven-foot long boat, together with its outboard motor and a boat cover, was stolen from its moorings on the river at Ramsey Forty Foot at some time overnight on Thursday 30th / Friday 31st May. (Ref 35/37739/19)
West Avenue, Ramsey – Police received a report of two off-road motorbikes being driven illegally at speed along West Avenue and in the Biggin Lane area of Ramsey on Saturday afternoon, 1st June. A patrol was dispatched and officers searched the area, but all was quiet at that time. (Ref CC-01062019-0304)
Bury Road, Ramsey – Police discovered that drawing pins had been scattered on the carriageway along Bury Road, Ramsey, on Sunday morning, 2nd June. The tacks are thought to have been aimed at cyclists passing along the road as part of the Tour of Cambridgeshire race. At least one vehicle, a motorcycle, received a punctured tyre as a result of driving over them. (Ref 35/38404/19)
Newtown Road Area – A thief stole a wiper blade from a vehicle whilst it was left parked on its owner’s driveway in a cul-de-sac off Newtown Road at some time overnight on Sunday 2nd / Monday 3rd June. (Ref 35/38359/19)
Neil Way, Ramsey – A police patrol spotted two off-road motorbikes at Neil Way, Ramsey, on Monday afternoon, 3rd June. The bikes were seized and taken away for having been illegally ridden on the highway, and also for other motoring offences. (Ref CC-03062019-0221)
Middle Drove, Ramsey Heights – Police discovered two cannabis factories at a site on Middle Drove, Ramsey Heights, on Tuesday morning, 4th June. Cannabis plants estimated to be worth £77,000 were seized, together with equipment connected with their cultivation. A ride-on lawn mower, believed to have been stolen, was also recovered from the site. (Ref 35/38617/19)
Ramsey St Mary’s – Police arrested a person for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a report of a male creating a disturbance outside a house in Ramsey St Mary’s on Wednesday evening, 5th June. (Ref CC-05062019-0424)
