    Alert message sent 14/08/2020 16:43:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon, Ramsey District Members –

Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 7th to 13th August:

Herne Road, Ramsey St Mary’s – Police seized and towed away a white BMW found on Herne Road, Ramsey St Mary’s, on Friday morning, 7th August, suspected of having been used in crime. (Ref CC-07082020-0099)

Grenfell Road, Ramsey – Thieves stole both number plates from a white Vauxhall van whilst it was left parked on Grenfell Road at some time between Friday evening, 7th, and Monday morning, 10th August. (Ref 35/53460/20)

Herne Road, Ramsey St Mary’s – Police and an ambulance were called to a collision between two cars on Herne Road, Ramsey St Mary’s, on Saturday morning, 8th August. The road was blocked for a time whilst one person was treated by paramedics and both vehicles were towed away by recovery services. (Ref CC-08082020-0277)

Whytefield Road, Ramsey – Police received a report of an incident that aroused suspicion that happened on Whytefield Road on Saturday evening, 8th August, in which two males driving a silver Transit van, or similar, were approaching persons in the street and asking if they wanted to buy diving equipment, including wetsuits and possibly also marine flares. The males reportedly were wearing old-fashioned top-hats. (Ref CC-08082020-0493)

And Finally… Rogue Traders and Cold Callers

Rogue traders are operating in the area again. One report from St Ives described a man knocking on doors and pointing out ‘faults’ with properties, ranging from guttering issues to loose tiles, and offering to fix them.

Remember – stay alert and always ask to see someone’s identification. Don’t feel pressured into agreeing to having work done immediately – if a tradesperson is genuine, they won’t mind leaving a quote for you to contact them later.
