Good Afternoon, Warboys and Bury District Members –
Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 29th November to 5th December:
High Fen Straight Drove – Police searched along the A141 between Warboys and Chatteris on Friday afternoon, 29th November, following a report of hare-coursers in a silver off-road vehicle seen leaving a field and returning to the main road. Unfortunately no trace of the suspect vehicle was found. (Ref CC-29112019-0346)
Warboys Road, Bury – Intruders in a van with one broken headlight broke through a farm gate to enter land on Warboys Road, Bury, overnight on Friday 29th / Saturday 30th November. The intruders then damaged fencing to get through to a neighbouring property. Security lighting and a padlock were also damaged in the incident. Police hope that CCTV footage will help in the investigation. (Ref 35/85657/19)
Warboys Road, Bury – Police and an ambulance were called to a head-on collision between two cars on Warboys Road, Bury, late on Saturday evening, 30th November. Unfortunately some of the occupants were reported to have been slightly hurt in the incident and both cars needed to be towed away by recovery services. (Ref CC-30112019-0553)
Heath Road, Warboys – Police and an ambulance were called to an incident that happened on Heath Road, Warboys, on Sunday afternoon, 1st December, where a car had left the road and crashed through a low wall into a pond. The driver was taken by ambulance for precautionary medical checks whilst arrangements were made to recover the crashed car. (Ref CC-01122019-0308)
Puddock Road, Warboys – A white Toyota pickup was stolen from a yard at a farm on Puddock Road, Warboys, at some time overnight on Wednesday 4th / Thursday 5th December. The thieves damaged an electric fence to get into the farmyard where the pickup had been left parked. (Ref 35/86867/19)
Lost and Found –
Warboys – Lost Dog - “Poppy”, a three-year-old female black Labrador, went missing from her home in Abbots Ripton on Tuesday afternoon, 3rd December. There have been sightings of her in Warboys but so far she has evaded all attempts to re-capture her. (Ref CC-04122019-0090)
Church Road, Warboys – Runaway Dog – A light-coloured whippet-type dog wearing a muzzle was spotted running down Church Street, Warboys, on Thursday 5th December at around 2:00 pm. It is thought that the dog had slipped its lead on Warboys airfield and run off. (Ref CC-05122019-0239)
And Finally – A Local News Item:
A man who assaulted a teenage girl on Warboys High Street in November and then again a few days later in Upwood, has been sent to gaol for 20 weeks.
