    Alert message sent 08/11/2019 11:16:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

Good Morning, Earith and Needingworth District Members –

Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 1st to 7th November:

Bluntisham – Police received a report of various acts of anti-social behaviour committed in Bluntisham on Halloween, Thursday 31st October. Several cars and houses were reported to have had eggs thrown at them as well as pumpkins being smashed and some instances of bullying by older children. Investigations are on-going. (Ref CC-07112019-0245)

High Street, Needingworth – The owners of a house on Needingworth High Street returned home on Saturday morning, 2nd November, having been away for a few days, and discovered that intruders had been inside during their absence. Nothing appeared to have been stolen apart from a set of keys, but very many items had been moved around in an apparently random fashion. Police have not ruled out the possibility that the incident might be a Halloween prank by persons who found an external door inadvertently left open. (Ref 35/78475/19)

High Street, Needingworth – Police are investigating an incident that happened on Needingworth High Street on Saturday morning, 2nd November, in which two cyclists were harassed by a male who obstructed their path and shouted at them, pushing the shoulders of one of them before they finally managed to cycle past. One of the victims was a young person who was left very distressed by the incident. (Ref 35/78435/19)

Colne Road, Bluntisham – There was a break-in at a house on Colne Road, Bluntisham, on Monday morning, 4th November. The owner returned from being absent for a few hours to find that glass panels in a porch door and the front door had both been smashed and the house entered, but nothing is thought to have been taken. Police have made enquiries at neighbouring houses and investigations are continuing. (Ref 35/78977/19)

A1123 Bluntisham – Police received a report of a car in the ditch on a bend of the A1123 at Bluntisham on Tuesday evening, 5th November. When officers arrived they found that the car had hit a tree but was empty and locked. A welfare check with the registered owner confirmed that nothing was amiss and that recovery services were on their way. Officers attached ‘Police Aware’ stickers to reassure passing motorists. (Ref CC-05112019-0401)

Bluntisham Heath Road – Thieves broke in to the recycling centre on Bluntisham Heath Road by ramming the front gate, then stole between 40 and 50 old car batteries, at some time overnight on Wednesday 6th / Thursday 7th November. Police hope that CCTV footage will help in the investigation. (Ref 35/79685/19)

Bluntisham Heath Road – Police were called to an incident on Bluntisham Heath Road on Thursday evening, 7th November, where a car had left the road and ended up in a ditch. Fortunately no-one was hurt and recovery was arranged by the owner. (Ref CC-07112019-0371)
