Weekly Policing Update - Warboys and Bury District

Good Afternoon, Warboys and Bury District Members –
Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 4th to 10th October:
A141 Clews Corner – Police and paramedics were called to a serious incident on the A141 at Clews Corner at around 4:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, 5th October, in which a motorcycle was in collision with a lorry. The motorcyclist was air-lifted to hospital and the road was closed for a time whilst the emergency services dealt with the situation. (Ref CC-05102019-0350)
A141 High Fen Straight Drove, Warboys – Police stopped a suspicious car on the A141 at High Fen Straight Drove, on Saturday evening, 5th October, and discovered a black bag under a seat containing cash, a set of scales, a herbal substance believed to be cannabis and some pills thought to be ‘Ecstasy’ tablets. Two suspects were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply. (Ref 35/71351/19)
Ramsey Road, Warboys – A garden gate at a house on Ramsey Road, Warboys, was damaged overnight on Saturday 5th / Sunday 6th October. The owners discovered in the morning that the gate had been kicked in, wrenching the gate-post from the wall, damaging the brickwork, and leaving the gate left hanging unsupported. (Ref 35/71498/19)
RAF Upwood – Police received a report of two intruders spotted on CCTV climbing over security fencing to enter a construction site at the disused RAF Upwood base on Upwood Road, Bury, shortly after midnight early on Sunday morning, 6th October. Officers with a police dog attended the site and followed a trail leading into the disused base, where a fire in a derelict building was discovered. The Fire Brigade were called to deal with the blaze, but unfortunately no suspects were located at the scene. (Ref CC-06102019-0023)
A141 Warboys – Police were called to an incident on the A141 at Warboys at midday on Sunday 6th October, where a caravan being towed by a car had flipped over onto its side, blocking the carriageway. Fortunately no-one was hurt, but police needed to close the road for a time whilst recovery services righted the caravan and towed it away. (Ref CC-06102019-0237)
A141 Clews Corner – The Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) were at Clews Corner on the A141 on Monday, 7th October, together with officials from partner agencies Fenland District Council, HM Revenue and Customs, and The Environment Agency, to carry out checks on passing vehicles. Two vehicles were seized and towed away for having no valid road tax and a third for having no valid insurance. Numerous checks were made for roadworthiness and for incorrect fuel in tanks, and two drivers were reported for traffic offences. (Ref CC-07102019-0068)
Puddock Road, Warboys – Thieves stole a JCB ‘Workmax’ utility vehicle from an open barn at a farm on Puddock Road, Warboys, at some time between Sunday evening, 6th, and Tuesday lunchtime, 8th October. Tyre marks suggest that the thieves loaded the vehicle on to a trailer and drove off with it across a field. (Ref 35/72029/19)
