Good Afternoon, Somersham District Members –
Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting your community, reported to police during the period 23rd to 29th August:
Somersham – There was a spate of thefts from vehicles in the Parkhall Road / Norwood Road / Shortland area of Somersham overnight on Friday 23rd / Saturday 24th August:
Shortland – A silver Ford Transit van, left parked on the road at Shortland, was broken into by a group of suspects who used an unknown tool to open the vans doors, then stole a quantity of power tools, a tool box and a radio before driving off. Police hope that CCTV footage showing the offence taking place may be available. (Ref 35/60490/19)
Norwood Road – A van left parked on Norwood Road was broken into and tools including drills, batteries and a battery charger were stolen. A bag of tools was later found discarded under a bush on Feoffees Road, but at the moment it is not known if they are stolen property. (Ref 35/60493/19)
Parkhall Road – A red Ford Transit van, left parked on its owner’s driveway on Parkhall Road, was broken into by thieves who forced open and damaged its side door, then stole tools, a sat-nav, and other items. (Ref 35/60495/19)
Fen Road, Pidley – A van left parked on the driveway of a house on Fen Road, Pidley, was broken into at some time overnight on Friday 23rd / Saturday 24th August. The thieves got away with tools worth several thousand pounds. Police hope that CCTV footage may be available to help in the investigation. (Ref 35/60501/19)
Homestead, Somersham – The rear windscreen of a black VW car, left parked on Homestead, Somersham, was deliberately smashed by an unknown person at some time overnight on Sunday 25th / Monday 26th August. No-one has so far reported seeing of hearing the incident happen, which apparently did not set off the car’s alarm system. (Ref 35/61071/19)
Pidley High Street / Pidley Sheep Lane Junction – Police and an ambulance were called to a collision between a car and a motorcycle at the junction of Pidley High Street and Pidley Sheep Lane on Tuesday evening, 27th August, in which one person was reported to have been seriously hurt. The road was closed for some time whilst the emergency services dealt with the incident. (Ref CC-27082019-0369)
Lost and Found:
Found – Chatteris Road, Somersham – Friday evening, 23rd August – Tools and tool-boxes found discarded on the roadside along Chatteris Road, Somersham. Items to be brought in to the police. (Ref CC-24082019-0163)
Found – Feoffees Road, Somersham – Saturday morning, 24th August – Bag of tools tucked under a bush. (Ref CC-24082019-0231)
