Good Afternoon, Hemingfords District Members –
Here is our regular summary of offences and incidents affecting your community. This week’s report is a ‘double issue’ covering the period 14th to 27th May:
Goldcrest Road, St Ives – Thieves broke into a van left parked behind its owner’s house on Goldcrest Road, St Ives, at some time between Wednesday 8th and Tuesday 14th May. The van’s door was levered open, breaking the lock, and power tools and other items were stolen from inside. (Ref 35/33379/19) A14 Galley Hill – Police searched along the A14 in the Galley Hill area on Wednesday evening, 15th May, following reports of people seen getting out of the back of a lorry and walking along the road. Officers located a group of four individuals and detained them for suspected immigration offences. (Ref CC-15052019-0332) Further calls were received in the evening reporting more people seen sheltering in a barn near Gore Tree Road, Hemingford Grey. When officers arrived and searched the area, a further five individuals were located and detained as suspected illegal immigrants. (Ref CC-15052019-0448) Limes Park Road, St Ives – Police received a report of damage to fencing panels separating a communal car-park from open space on Limes Park Road, St Ives, on Thursday 16th May. (Ref 35/34032/19) Gunnings Way, Hemingford Grey – There was a break in at a house on Gunnings Way, Hemingford Grey, overnight on Sunday 19th / Monday 20th May. Intruders entered by forcing open a window at the back of the house, but at the moment it is not known what may have been stolen. (Ref 35/35014/19) Dunnock Way Area, St Ives – Police are investigating a report of a fraud received from a resident in the Dunnock Way area of St Ives on Monday 20th May, in which counterfeit bank-notes were used to purchase an item advertised on an internet auction site. The fake notes were discovered when the victim attempted to pay them in at a bank. (Ref 35/35353/19) The Thicket, Houghton – A thief entered a van left parked outside a house on The Thicket, Houghton, at some time between midday and 8:00 pm on Thursday 23rd May and stole a mobile phone that had been left on view inside. (Ref 35/35798/19) Galley Hill – Police and ambulance crews were called to a collision between two cars at a roundabout near the Galley Hill junction of the A14 on Friday evening, 24th May. Three people were reported to have suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital whilst recovery services removed both damaged vehicles from the scene. (Ref CC-24052019-0466) A14 Eastbound, Hemingford Abbots – Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to an incident on the eastbound A14 near Hemingford Abbots on Saturday evening, 25th May, where a camper-van towing a trailer had left the carriageway, overturned and ended up in a ditch. A lot of debris was left on the road and police had to close the eastbound carriageway whilst the emergency services dealt with the incident. One person was reported to have been seriously hurt and was taken to hospital. (Ref CC-25052019-0515)
