Good Afternoon, St Ives District Members –
Here is our weekly summary of offences and incidents affecting the St Ives community, reported to police during the period 20th to 26th November:
Somersham Road, St Ives – Police were called to a collision between a car and a tractor near the junction of Somersham Road and Bluntisham Heath Road on Tuesday evening, 20th November. Fortunately no-one was hurt although the car was reported to have ended up in the ditch. A lot of mud was found on the road at the scene and officers spoke to a farmer working in fields nearby. One person was also reported for driving without insurance. (Ref CC-20112018-0341)
Low Road, St Ives - Thieves stole parts from a large number of cars left parked on a garage forecourt on Low Road during the night of Tuesday 20th / Wednesday 21st November. (Ref 35/46887/18)
St Ives – Following several reports from around the county of a blue VW van being involved in thefts from shops, police found a vehicle matching the description in the car-park of a supermarket in St Ives on Sunday 25th November. No-one was with the van but items stolen from several shops were found inside, and checks showed that the van itself was stolen and had false number plates. It was towed away for forensic analysis. Station Road – CCTV caught images of a suspect stealing a Christmas tree from outside a shop on Station Road, St Ives, on Monday lunchtime, 26th November. The pictures shows the tree being loaded into a vehicle which then drove away. Investigations are continuing. (Ref 35/47878/18)
St Audrey Lane – Thieves stole a single-axle trailer from the front garden of a house on St Audrey Lane at some time on Monday evening, 26th November. The trailer had a hitch lock and was loaded with several bags of rubbish, but the thieves managed to manoeuvre it out of the garden and drive away with it. (Ref 35/47952/18)
Westwood Road – A motorcycle was thrown to the ground in a parking area on Westwood Road on Monday evening, 26th November, causing damage to the handlebars. Unfortunately CCTV at the location did not record any useful images. (Ref 35/47959/18)
