    Alert message sent 23/11/2018 17:47:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

    Hi

We have run our first rural watch scheme in the Gransden, Abbottsley and Gamlingay areas this week, a joint watch with volunteers and Police patrolling the local countryside between 8pm and 11pm.

Volunteers patrolled, paired in their vehicles with a Police radio and a dedicated watch channel to enable direct contact with the Police units on the watch, calling any suspicious vehicles and sightings in the area. All volunteers have undergone vetting to be able to use the radios.

The results of the evening were 6 vehicles stopped by officers, 4 searches carried out, a small quantity of drugs seized, a male searched having been found located within a farmers field in Abbottsley and some good intelligence gathered. A good positive start to assist and deter crime in the rurals.

The next watch night for this area will be in December. We are always looking for new volunteers to assist are existing ones, if interested please feel free to contact me.

Working together to protect rural communities.

    Kind Regards
    Richard
