New powers introduced to tackle anti-social behaviour in Huntingdon |
||
|
Dear Resident, I wanted to let you know that a new Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) has come into effect across Huntingdon today (1 October). The order has been introduced by Huntingdonshire District Council, working in partnership with Cambridgeshire Constabulary, following feedback from residents and local businesses about anti-social behaviour in the town centre and surrounding areas. This PSPO gives police officers and council staff additional powers to deal with behaviour that has a negative impact on our communities, including issues such as street drinking, public urination and defecation, vandalism and other activities that affect public spaces. Listening to and acting on the concerns of residents is a key part of neighbourhood policing. These additional powers will help us respond more effectively to ongoing issues and support the work already being carried out to make Huntingdon a safer and more welcoming place for everyone. We will continue to work closely with our partners, local businesses and the community to tackle anti-social behaviour and ensure our public spaces remain enjoyable and accessible for all. Thank you for your continued support. Kind regards, Inspector Colin Norden Huntingdon Neighbourhood Team | ||
