More than 30 vehicles stopped during multi-agency operation

On Friday, officers from our Rural Crime Action Team and March Neighbourhood Policing Team worked alongside partners as part of Operation Chambers – a multi-agency day of action aimed at disrupting criminality on our rural road networks.

The day took place in Chatteris, with a focus on the A141 and A142, where vehicles were then taken to the checkpoint at Tesco.

The day brought together specialists such as the National Rural Crime Unit, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), the Environment Agency, and DataTag so we could deal with a wide range of offending.

The results?

These operations aren’t just about traffic offences, they are also about identifying stolen property, tackling organised crime, and making our roads safer. While not every vehicle is involved in criminality, these operations regularly identify offenders who use the rural road network to commit crime, transport stolen property, evade tax and insurance, or operate illegally.
