A message from the family of the young boy injured in Old Hurst |
||
|
Dear Resident, We wanted to share an update following the serious incident at Johnson’s of Old Hurst on 18 June, which many of you will already be aware of. The family of the three-year-old boy who was injured have issued a statement to thank those who have supported them during this incredibly difficult time. The boy remains in Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a stable condition and faces a long road to recovery. His family said: “We would like to thank the staff at the zoo who resuced our son from the enclosure. “We are truly grateful for the public support and well-wishes we have received, as well as to everyone who has been directly involved in our son's care and recovery in hospital. “Our attention remains focused on his recovery and supporting him through this extremely challenging and prolonged period of time.” A fundraising page has been set up to support the boy’s recovery and rehabilitation, and to help provide financial stability for the family while they remain by his side in hospital over the coming months. Any remaining funds will be donated to charities and organisations within Addenbrooke’s Trust which support other families facing similar circumstances. The family have asked for privacy at this time. They wish to remain anonymous and have asked that their request is respected by the community and media. We know this incident has had an impact locally, and we thank residents for their continued support and consideration. Kind regards, | ||
