Day of action to address speeding in your area

Dear Resident,

As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, our officers carried out a day of action focused on one of their priorities: tackling vehicle-related anti-social behaviour and traffic offences across March, Whittlesey and Chatteris town centres.

Activity centred around speed enforcement, responding to concerns regularly raised by the community. You may have seen officers at the following locations:

Doddington and Wimblington – working alongside a Community Speedwatch group. During the checks, 470 vehicles passed through, with three tickets issued and ten drivers spoken to about their speed.

Cavalry Drive, March – where one driver was reported for driving without a licence or insurance, resulting in their vehicle being seized.

A605 in Coates and Eastrea – where further speed checks were carried out.

During the day, officers also arrested a 36-year-old man in Manea on suspicion of two shoplifting offences, driving without a licence, and possession of Class A drugs.

It was encouraging to see that the majority of road users were complying with speed limits.

We will continue to carry out this type of enforcement activity whenever possible. While we cannot be everywhere, we could be anywhere.
