Murder investigation launched in Peterborough |

Four people have been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Peterborough. Police were called at just before 7pm yesterday (Sunday 12 April) to a report the teenager had been attacked in Riseholme, near the Orton Centre. Emergency services, including paramedics, went to the scene and the boy was taken to hospital, but he died later in the evening. Detectives are treating the boy’s death as murder and two people from Peterborough – a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man – are under arrest on suspicion of murder, A 17-year-old girl from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 16-year-old girl from March has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of a bladed article. All are in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station. An area around the scene at the Orton Centre has been cordoned off to allow police inquiries to be carried out and there will be an increased police presence in the area over coming days. DCI Richard Stott, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Major Crime Unit, said: “This is tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a young man, and we are in contact with his family and keeping them updated. “While we understand the death will be concerning for local people, we do not believe this was a random attack and there will be a significant police presence in the area over coming days. “I would urge anyone who believes they have information about this attack, or lives in the area and has CCTV at their home, to contact police.” Anyone with information is urged to contact police via the website www.cambs.police.uk/report, using the web chat function or by calling 101, quoting Operation Whitby or incident 373 of Sunday (12 April).
