Vehicle break-ins in Cambridge

Dear Resident,

We want to make you aware that there has been a recent spate of vehicle break‑ins in Cambridge over the past couple of weeks, including incidents involving taxis. Our officers are actively investigating these reports, and enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.

In the meantime, we are urging all vehicle owners to remain vigilant and take steps to protect their vehicle. These include:

Removing all valuables from vehicles, including bags, wallets, tools, electronic devices and loose change

Ensuring vehicles are locked and windows are fully closed, even for short periods

Parking in well-lit areas, secure car parks, or locations covered by CCTV where possible

Considering additional security such as steering wheel locks, alarms or dashcams

Keeping keys safely stored at home, away from doors and windows to avoid opportunistic theft

We also ask residents to report any suspicious activity around parked vehicles.
If you witness a crime in progress, please call 999 immediately.
