E-bike seized by neighbourhood officers |
||||
Dear Resident,
We don’t think an e-bike is meant to be taped up like that…
Safe to say this bike we came across in March has been seized and the rider will be reported for various offences.
Want to make sure your e-bike is compliant with the laws? Here is a reminder: 🚲If you are 14 or over, you can ride an electric bike, also known as an electrically assisted pedal cycle (EAPC), on cycle paths or anywhere else pedal bikes are allowed without a licence or insurance 🚲The electric bike must have pedals that you can use to propel it, it can have more than two wheels, must have an electric motor that can run continuously at a maximum power of no more than 250 watts, and must have no electrical assistance once you reach 15.5mph If your e-bike fails to meet any of these requirements, it is classed as a ‘mechanically propelled vehicle’ and must be taxed and insured as either a motorbike or moped.
Tackling vehicle-related anti-social behaviour and traffic offences in March, Whittlesey, and Chatteris town centres is one of the priorities for the next couple of months.
You can read more about the work being done towards these priorities on our website.
Kind regards, | ||||
