Don't buy an e-scooter this Christmas! |
||
Dear Resident,
As it is December, it is officially not too early to mention Christmas!
You might have already started buying presents, or perhaps you’re brainstorming ideas on what to buy family or friends this year, and remember that they once mentioned wanting an e-scooter…
Before you make the purchase, please keep in mind the laws around e-scooters:
🛴They are classed as motor vehicles, which means to legally use one, you need the correct licence, insurance, and tax. Riding without this could result in being issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) and points on your licence.
🛴It is not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters in the UK, meaning it is illegal to use them on the road or in public spaces. If you own an e-scooter, you can only use it on private land with the permission of the landowner.
Our officers have been working hard to make the roads safer and have seized numerous e-scooters over the last few months, don’t let yours be the next one.
More information about the use of e-scooters can be found on our website.
Kind regards, | ||
