Dear Resident,
As we enter the last few months of 2025, catch up on what our policing teams have been up to throughout October!
Highlights from the last month:
Officers were out in force tackling moped and motorbike theft across the city. Stolen motorbikes recovered, a man arrested in connection with two vehicle thefts and several tickets issued. Patrols to tackle anti-social behaviour, speaking to residents and businesses to help identify issues that matter the most to you. Reuniting stolen bikes with their owners. Working with Royal Mail to intercept 28 packages containing cannabis, a class B drug. Now time for some recent court results!
Our officers work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts and ensure justice is served. Here’s a few from this past month:
A drug dealer who hid 19 bags of cocaine in a cigarette packet has been jailed. Read more here.
A shoplifter who breached an order not to enter stores across Cambridge has been jailed. More here.
A prolific bike thief who stole bikes from across Cambridge has been jailed for a year. Read more here.
A burglar who stole cash from a Cambridge restaurant has been jailed. More here.
Tips and tricks:
Our Cambridge neighbourhood team is made up of a number of officers that cover the whole of the city.
One of our current priorities is anti-social driving and motorbike and moped thefts.
We have recently been out responding to your concerns, but here are a few tips on how to keep your motorbike safe in the meantime:
1. Lock - Use a disc lock to help secure the front brake disc or a D lock on the front wheel to stop your moped being wheeled away. 2. Chain -Use a chain lock through the back wheel, this will prevent thieves from wheeling it away! 3. Cover - Make sure to cover your motorbike or moped. Thieves are often on the lookout for particular bike models; this will instantly make it less attractive to them! Antisocial use of a vehicle, such as street racing, street cruising or off-road use is more than a matter of noise pollution, it can have a wider impact on a neighbourhood or community.
