Dear Resident,
As we head further into Autumn, catch up on what our policing teams have been up to in the month of September!
Highlights from the last month: Recovered a stolen vehicle in Soham that was also used in crime and then set on fire! Anti-social behaviour patrols in Ely, speaking to residents and identifying issues in the area. Rural crime officers seized a suspected hare coursing vehicle after it was reported to us. Checks also revealed it had no tax or insurance! Speed checks in Soham and Chevely following community concerns in the area. Now time for some recent court results!
Our officers work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts and ensure justice is served.
Here’s a few from this past month: A Littleport man who failed to stop after a collision and refused to provide a breath test has been sentenced. Read more here. Twenty-four people charged in connection with hare coursing and disorder that took place across Cambridgeshire in January have now appeared in court. More here. Two men have been jailed for violent aggravated burglaries in East Cambridgeshire. Read more here. Tips and tricks:
One of the main priorities of our East Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood team is tackling anti-social behaviour in Ely City Centre.
Antisocial behaviour takes many forms, from aggressive, noisy or abusive behaviour to neighbourhood disturbances involving drugs, abandoned cars or animals.
For more advice about anti-social behaviour and how to report it, head to our website.
This is just some of what we have been up to this month, we are always working to protect the public and being visible and approachable in the communities.
If you would like to share any concerns, why not pop along to one of our community events?
We regularly host a ‘Coffee with a Cop’ and ‘Police Surgeries’ to understand the issues that are impacting you. For more updates on our next event, head to our website.
Alternatively, have your say at our next online community meeting on Wednesday 8th October at 7pm. If you are interested in joining us, email ‘East’ to communitymeeting@cambs.police.uk and you will be sent a Teams invite. If you can’t make it to chat to us in person, report it online.
