Four arrests made during a busy week for your local neighbourhood team!

Dear Resident,

No two days are the same in policing, and your local neighbourhood team really proved that on their set of early shifts last week!

The week started with speed checks being conducted along A605 in Coates. No tickets were issued this time but a few drivers were stopped and given words of advice for their speed in a 30mph zone. Speeding is a concern that you have raised to us, so we will continue to do these speed checks regularly in order to combat the issue.

We spent some time in Benwick, patrolling the area around an abandoned property which has become a hotspot for anti-social behaviour and criminal damage, with youths frequently being found in the building. We didn’t encounter anyone whilst on our patrols this last week, but you never know when we may return!

Multi-agency work is a big part of neighbourhood policing, and is something that we regularly do in order to tackle issues in the area. This week, we worked with the council to identify a location of fly tipping in Byall Fen Drove, Manea. Arrangements have now been made for it to be removed.

The team also made four arrests:

  • A man in his 30s was arrested in Benwick on Tuesday after he assaulted one of our officers who had detained him for a stop-search after he was suspected to be in possession of cannabis. He has been bailed to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station in June.
  • The next day, officers stopped a driver in Market Square, March, due to his manner of driving. A stop-search resulted in class A drugs being found in the car and the man was arrested on suspicion of possession with Intent to supply class A drugs. He’s been bailed to return to Kings Lynn PIC in June while we carry out further enquiries.
  • A man in his 40s was arrested in Bridge Street, Chatteris, after he was wanted on recall for prison. A woman in her 40s was arrested as well for assisting the offender, and has been given a caution.
  •

This is all alongside carrying out other tasks including admin, paperwork, information gathering and patrols of the new bus stops in March to combat those parking there illegally and engaging with businesses in the area following recent burglaries.

If you ever see us out and about, do come and have a chat, we’d love to hear about your concerns. Alternatively, you can raise any issues to us here.

    Kind regards,
