March newsletter from your City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team

Dear {FIRST NAME},

Welcome to the March edition of your neighbourhood policing newsletter.

Your City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have had some student officers join them on a six-week attachment, and collectively they have had a very busy month responding to your concerns.

I’ve been really impressed with what I have seen from both the NPT and the students who have got stuck into the work here, focusing on the current priorities as set by your feedback.

The team were successful in obtaining a closure order on a flat at 57 Lincoln Road, following persistent anti-social behaviour and concerns around drug use and dealing surrounding the property. Flat 2 was subject to a closure order at the end of last year, however, since it expired in January, we have seen an increase in the issues again, prompting the latest action from the team. You can read more about it on the news section of our website here.

Just last week the team joined our Neighbourhood Support Team in executing a drugs warrant at a flat in Lincoln Road, by Church Walk, in response to concerns about drug dealing in the area. Work is ongoing, however a couple of nasty weapons were seized from the property, which we’re pleased to say will be destroyed and can no longer fall into the wrong hands.

We also held our second bike marking event in the city centre, this time at the train station, where more than 40 people came along to have their bicycles marked, reducing the chance of them being stolen but also increasing the chance of us being able to return their bike to them should it be stolen and recovered by us later down the line. We are planning on holding more of these events throughout the year, so please keep an eye on your emails for details. In the meantime, advice on how to best protect your bike can be found on our dedicated bicycle theft prevention webpage.

We are in the process of setting the new priorities for the coming quarter, which we will share with you in our next update later this month.

As always, please continue to report any concerns to us – the more information we have, the better equipped we are to tackle the issues that matter most to you.

Kind Regards,

Inspector Sam Tucker
Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team (city centre and eastern sector)

Current priorities for your city centre Neighbourhood Policing Team

Every three months we use a combination of our own data and your feedback via our community policing survey to set three priorities for each of our neighbourhood policing teams to focus on for the coming quarter.

Between January and March this year, your Peterborough city centre team have been prioritising:

  • Anti-social behaviour in Henry Penn Walk (rear of Vierzen Platz)
  • Retail crime in the city centre
  • Drug use, dealing and associated anti-social behaviour in the vicinity of Church Walk
  •

Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to us, even if you see someone trying car door handles – this is a crime!

Advice and information about how to best protect your vehicle from thieves can be found on our dedicated vehicle safety information webpages.
