Dedicated patrols to tackle street drinking in Wisbech

Dear Resident,

One of the ongoing priorities for our Wisbech neighbourhood team is tackling street drinking and the associated anti-social behaviour in Wisbech town centre, also known as Operation Luscombe.

As part of this work, there is a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in place in the centre which bans open vessels of alcohol being open in the area covered by the order. Those found to be in breach of the order may face police action.

On our patrols recently, we spoke to a group who were found to be drinking alcohol. The drink was disposed of, and the individuals were moved on. We also spoke to two other groups regarding the same issues, educating them on the PSPO and pointing out the signs in the area which outline the order.

All individuals that we speak to are offered support should they ever need it, and we can signpost them to the relevant agencies who can help them.

It is coming up to the time where our teams are pinpointing what priorities they are going to focus on in the coming months! If issues such as street drinking and associated ASB is something you are concerned about, you can let us know here.

Kind regards,
